      The digital twin city is based on the building information model and the three-dimensional geographic information system of the city, and uses the Internet of Things technology to digitize all the elements of the physical city, such as people, things, events, water, electricity, and gas, and then construct a corresponding "virtual city" on the network space. It forms a situation where the physical city in the physical dimension and the digital city in the information dimension coexist and blend the virtual and the real.

      Through global data identification, accurate status perception, real-time data analysis, scientific model decision-making, and intelligent and accurate execution, a city-level data closed-loop empowerment system is built to realize the simulation, monitoring, diagnosis, prediction and control of cities, and eliminate random uncertainties in urban planning, construction, operation, management and services.

      It is a new type of smart city based on 3S spatial information technology, Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, 3D model, building information model (BIM) and city intelligence model (CIM) and other technologies. Digital twin cities need to use these technologies to create a virtual smart city, and then to monitor, simulate, analyze and predict various elements in the city (such as buildings, transportation, energy, and medical care.), in order to propose various solutions in line with the planning of smart city construction and smart city application. If digital twin cities are compared to human beings, the living beings can use the basic models of urban nature, humanity and ecology obtained by 3S spatial information technology as the skeleton. Using technologies such as 3D modeling technology, BIM and CIM, the physical buildings of the city can be digitized into buildings on the computer to generate the flesh and blood of living organisms. Then, the neural network is generated through the sensing technology of the Internet of Things. Finally combined with artificial intelligence technology, it is shaped into a mature brain, and the city is truly built into an urban life body that can perceive, make decision, respond quickly, and can learn. Therefore, the realization of the digital twin city requires supporting technologies such as 3S spatial information technology, 3D modeling technology, IoT logo perception technology, artificial intelligence and deep learning.
