During the excavation of the ancient city of Zeugma in the southeast of Gaziantep, the home of Dionysus was found and has been introduced to a virtual platform through the metauniverse.

Fatma, Mayor of Gaziantep City Ş Ahin spoke at the "First Step towards the Surreal World" event held at the Planetarium and Science Center, stating that Gaziantep has a rich ancient history. The mayor also pointed out that in this sense, they are attempting to utilize virtual technology in urban planning.


Ş Ahin pointed out that important items and cultural relics were unearthed in the ancient city of Zeugma, He said: "You can see the glorious period of the Romans in Zeugma. Some people don't have enough time or opportunity to visit this ancient city. The Metauniverse allows you to get closer to what you want to know through the digital platform. Science, art and culture will be integrated with technology. We are in a new era, and we will combine cultural heritage with technology. Gaziantep has five ancient cities, inns, Türkiye bathrooms and museums, which will Being included in the metaverse.

 

Zeugma is an ancient Greek city in Türkiye, followed by Ommagene in Rome. The Mosaic unearthed at the site is preserved at the Zegma Mosaic Museum, which is one of the largest Mosaic museums in the world.
